Are you hiring? Are you looking for an HMIS consultant? Do you know someone who is?

A new job board is now available on www.hmis.info. The goal of the job board is to assist the HMIS initiative as a whole by linking HMIS organizations in need to experienced HMIS professionals.

Any organization doing HMIS-related work can use the job board to advertise vacancies or consulting needs. We welcome postings by HMIS implementers, homeless service agencies, HUD offices, vendors, HMIS solution providers, technical assistance providers, consultants, and others. Jobs can be full-time, part-time, or contract-based.

All registered users can post a job, which becomes "live" after an HMIS.info administrator approve it. Job board features include a weekly digest, email to a friend, and the ability to manage jobs you posted or are interested in using "My HMIS.info". In order to keep the board current, jobs expire after sixty days. However, job posters may manually extend the posting for an additional sixty day period as many times as needed with the click of a button.

News: Release of HUD`s first-ever Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress

HUD’s Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress measures homelessness over time, allowing researchers to expand their body of knowledge beyond more limited estimates in the past. HUD unveiled new data from Continuums of Care (CoC) that indicates 754,000 persons are living in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and on the streets on any given night. In addition, data from Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS), available for the first time, indicated that 704,000 persons used emergency shelter and transitional housing during a three-month period (February-April) in 2005.

“This first-of-its kind study is a huge leap forward in our understanding of not only how many people are homeless, but also what their needs are,” said HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson. “We’ve got to remember that behind these numbers are people – individuals and families who are struggling to survive. This first report and those that follow will help us gauge how well our efforts, as well as those of our partners at the state and local level and the nonprofit sector, are working to help the homeless. We all must work in concert together to help our nation’s most vulnerable.”

To navigate, click on the Communities link in the navigation bar.

Clicking on a state will provide a list of HMIS implementations in the state along with the CoCs participating in that implementation. Clicking on a particular HMIS implementation will provide more information about the HMIS project as well as contact information and links to peer-to-peer documents from that community posted on this site.

You may also search for a community from the search box on the left side of the page. Choose the "Community" radio button, and search for an HMIS Implementation name, a Continuum of Care Name, or a Continuum of Care Code.

Coming Soon: In the near future these pages will also include maps showing the CoC borders within eanh state, and the CoCs listed here will link to more detailed pages devoted to the CoC on the HUD website.

HMIS Innovation Award: Best Operational Utilization of HMIS
Recipient:

Office of Supportive Housing, City of Philadelphia, PA
The award for HMIS Innovation for Best Operational Use of HMIS is awarded to Philadelphia`s Office of Supportive Housing. Philadelphia`s HMIS is a fully integrated and operational shelter management system that provides city administrators with real time information on available beds, characteristics of persons housed, and a daily census of unduplicated clients served.

HMIS Innovation Award: Advanced Uses of HMIS
Recipients:

Office of Homeless Services, Baltimore, MD, for Point in Time Counts
The City of Baltimore is the recipient of a 2006 HMIS Innovation Award for Advanced Uses of HMIS. The Office of Homeless Services in the City of Baltimore maximized utilization of the HMIS for overall count of homeless persons. The City of Baltimore is one of the first Continuums of Care to successfully integrate point in time counts in HMIS.
